Privacy policy

Personal data (hereinafter mostly referred to simply as “data”) is processed by us only to the extent necessary and for the purpose of providing a functional and user-friendly website, including its content and the services offered there.

According to Article 4 No. 1 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter referred to as “GDPR”), “processing” means any operation or set of operations performed on personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure, or destruction.

With the following privacy policy, we inform you in particular about the type, scope, purpose, duration, and legal basis of the processing of personal data, insofar as we decide either alone or jointly with others on the purposes and means of processing. Furthermore, we inform you below about third-party components used by us for optimization purposes and to improve usability, insofar as third parties process data under their own responsibility.

Our privacy policy is structured as follows:

I. Information about us as the data controller
II. Rights of users and data subjects
III. Information on data processing

I. Information About Us as the Data Controller

The responsible provider of this website within the meaning of data protection law is:

II. Rights of Users and Data Subjects

With regard to the data processing described in more detail below, users and data subjects have the right:

  • to obtain confirmation as to whether data concerning them is being processed, to receive information about the processed data, further information about the data processing, and copies of the data (see also Art. 15 GDPR);
  • to request the correction or completion of inaccurate or incomplete data (see also Art. 16 GDPR);

In addition, the provider is obliged to inform all recipients to whom data has been disclosed by the provider of any correction or deletion of data or restriction of processing carried out pursuant to Articles 16, 17 para. 1, and 18 GDPR. However, this obligation does not apply if such notification is impossible or would involve disproportionate effort. Regardless of this, the user has the right to obtain information about these recipients.

Furthermore, pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR, users and data subjects have the right to object to the future processing of data concerning them, provided that the data is processed by the provider in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. In particular, an objection to data processing for the purpose of direct advertising is permissible.

III. Information on Data Processing

The data processed when using our website will be deleted or blocked as soon as the purpose for storing the data no longer applies, provided that no statutory retention obligations prevent the deletion of the data and unless otherwise stated below regarding specific processing procedures.

Server Data

For technical reasons, in particular to ensure a secure and stable website, data is transmitted by your internet browser to us or to our web hosting provider. These so-called server log files collect, among other things, the type and version of your internet browser, the operating system, the website from which you accessed our website (referrer URL), the pages of our website that you visit, the date and time of each access, and the IP address of the internet connection from which our website is accessed.

The data collected in this way is stored temporarily but not together with other data relating to you.

This storage is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the improvement, stability, functionality, and security of our website.

The data is deleted no later than seven days after collection unless further retention is required for evidentiary purposes. Otherwise, the data is exempt from deletion in whole or in part until the final clarification of an incident.

Cookies

a) Session Cookies

We use so-called cookies on our website. Cookies are small text files or other storage technologies that are stored on your device by the internet browser you use. These cookies process certain information about you on an individual basis, such as your browser data, location data, or IP address.

This processing makes our website more user-friendly, effective, and secure, for example by enabling the display of our website in different languages or by providing a shopping cart function.

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b) GDPR, insofar as these cookies process data for contract initiation or contract fulfillment purposes.

If the processing does not serve contract initiation or contract fulfillment, our legitimate interest lies in improving the functionality of our website. The legal basis in this case is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR.

These session cookies are deleted when you close your internet browser.

b) Third-Party Cookies

Our website may also use cookies from partner companies with whom we cooperate for advertising, analysis, or website functionality purposes.

Please refer to the following information for details, in particular regarding the purposes and legal bases for the processing of such third-party cookies.

c) Removal Options

You can prevent or restrict the installation of cookies through the settings of your internet browser. You can also delete cookies that have already been stored at any time. The steps and measures required for this depend on the specific internet browser you are using. If you have any questions, please use the help function or documentation of your internet browser or contact the manufacturer or support service. In the case of so-called Flash cookies, however, processing cannot be prevented through the browser settings. Instead, you must change the settings of your Flash player. The steps and measures required for this also depend on the specific Flash player you are using. If you have any questions, please likewise use the help function or documentation of your Flash player or contact the manufacturer or user support.

However, if you prevent or restrict the installation of cookies, this may result in not all functions of our website being fully usable.

Shopify Network Intelligence

Our online store uses the Shopify Network Intelligence feature (also referred to as “enhanced services”). Shopify uses your customer data together with data from other merchants to generate insights that enable advanced shop functionalities. Shopify uses these insights in particular to:

  • create personalized online experiences for you,
  • improve the targeting of marketing and advertising measures,
  • enhance product recommendations and search results.

Important: Other merchants do not have access to your customer data — the use of this data remains internal to Shopify and its related services.

Customer data processed within the scope of Network Intelligence is transferred to Shopify in pseudonymized form and processed there for the purposes described above. Shopify may also use affiliated service providers for this purpose, which may be located in other countries.

Legal Basis: In regions such as the EU/EEA, this processing is carried out only with your explicit consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR), which you may provide, for example, through our cookie banner. Where consent is not legally required, we base the data processing on our legitimate interest (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR), such as the statistical analysis and optimization of our services, provided that no overriding rights of the data subject oppose this.

You may object to the use of your data for Shopify Network Intelligence at any time or withdraw any consent already given with effect for the future. Following such an objection, your data will no longer be used for the Network Intelligence purposes described above (such as analytics or personalized advertising). Through Shopify’s official privacy portal, you can also manage your privacy settings, request deletion of your data, or object directly to the processing of your data for enhanced services by Shopify.

Shopify may process customer data on servers located outside the European Union (e.g. in Canada or the United States). For such international data transfers, Shopify ensures an adequate level of data protection in accordance with the GDPR through appropriate safeguards — in particular EU Standard Contractual Clauses or recognized adequacy decisions.

These notices apply uniformly to all customers of our store (in Germany, Europe, and worldwide), as data processing within the scope of Shopify Network Intelligence may occur internationally.

Contract Processing

The data transmitted by you for the purpose of using our goods and/or services is processed by us for the purpose of contract fulfillment and is required for this purpose. The conclusion and processing of contracts are not possible without the provision of your data.

The legal basis for the processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b) GDPR.

We delete the data once the contract has been fully processed, but we must comply with retention periods required under tax and commercial law.

As part of contract processing, we pass your data on to the transport company commissioned with the delivery of goods or to the financial service provider, insofar as the transfer is necessary for the delivery of goods or for payment purposes.

The legal basis for the transfer of data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b) GDPR.

Contact Requests / Contact Options

If you contact us via contact form or email, the data you provide will be used to process your request. Providing this data is necessary in order to process and respond to your inquiry — without it, we may not be able to respond to your request or may only be able to respond to it to a limited extent.

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b) GDPR.

Your data will be deleted once your request has been conclusively answered, provided that no legal retention obligations prevent deletion, such as in the case of subsequent contract processing.

User Contributions, Comments, and Reviews

We offer you the opportunity to publish questions, answers, opinions, or reviews on our website, hereinafter referred to as “contributions.” If you make use of this option, we process and publish your contribution, the date and time of submission, and any pseudonym you may use.

The legal basis for this is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a) GDPR. You may revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future in accordance with Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR. To do so, you simply need to notify us of your withdrawal of consent.

In addition, we also process your IP address and email address. The IP address is processed because we have a legitimate interest in initiating or supporting further legal steps if your contribution infringes the rights of third parties and/or is otherwise unlawful.

In this case, the legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in any legal defense that may become necessary.

Subscription to Contributions

If you publish contributions on our website, we also offer you the option to subscribe to any follow-up contributions made by third parties. In order to inform you about these follow-up contributions by email, we process your email address.

The legal basis for this is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a) GDPR. You may revoke your consent to this subscription at any time with effect for the future in accordance with Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR. To do so, you only need to notify us of your withdrawal of consent or use the unsubscribe link contained in the respective email.

Prize Draws

We offer you the opportunity to participate in prize draws via our website. If you participate in one of our prize draws, the data you provide in connection with your participation will be processed without any further consent from you, but solely for the purpose of conducting and processing the respective prize draw.

As part of the processing of the prize draw, we pass your data on to the transport company responsible for delivering the goods or to a financial service provider, insofar as the transfer is necessary for the delivery or payout of your prize. If your data is published in the event of winning, you will be informed of this within the scope of the declaration of consent.

The legal basis for the transfer of data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b) GDPR.

You may revoke your consent to the processing of your data for participation in our prize draws at any time with effect for the future in accordance with Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR. To do so, you simply need to notify us of your withdrawal of consent.

Social Media Links via Graphic or Text Link

We also promote presences on the social networks listed below on our website. The integration is carried out via a linked graphic of the respective network. The use of this linked graphic prevents an automatic connection to the respective social network server when accessing a website containing such social media promotion, solely for the purpose of displaying the graphic itself. Only when the user clicks on the corresponding graphic will they be redirected to the service of the respective social network.

After the user has been redirected, information about the user is collected by the respective network. It cannot be ruled out that the data collected in this way may be processed in the USA.

This initially includes data such as the IP address, date, time, and visited page. If the user is logged into their user account of the respective network at the same time, the network operator may be able to associate the collected information from the specific visit with the user’s personal account. If the user interacts via a “Share” button of the respective network, this information may be stored in the user’s personal account and possibly published. If the user wishes to prevent the collected information from being directly assigned to their user account, they must log out before clicking on the graphic. It is also possible to configure the respective user account accordingly.

Further information about the possible plug-ins and their respective functions is provided by Facebook at:

https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/

If the plug-in is stored on one of the pages of our website that you visit, your internet browser downloads a representation of the plug-in from Facebook’s servers in the USA. For technical reasons, it is necessary for Facebook to process your IP address. In addition, the date and time of your visit to our website are also recorded.

If you are logged into Facebook while visiting one of our pages containing the plug-in, Facebook recognizes the information collected by the plug-in from your specific visit. Facebook may assign the collected information to your personal Facebook user account. If, for example, you use Facebook’s “Like” button, this information is stored in your Facebook user account and may be published via the Facebook platform. If you wish to prevent this, you must either log out of Facebook before visiting our website or use an add-on for your internet browser to block the loading of the Facebook plug-in.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics on our website. This is a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, hereinafter referred to as “Google.”

Google Analytics is used to analyze the usage behavior of our website. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the analysis, optimization, and economic operation of our website.

Usage and user-related information, such as IP address, location, time, or frequency of visits to our website, is transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the USA. However, we use Google Analytics with the so-called anonymization function. Through this function, Google shortens the IP address within the EU or EEA before transmission.

The data collected in this way is used by Google to provide us with an evaluation of visits to our website and usage activities there. This data may also be used to provide other services related to website and internet usage.

Google states that your IP address will not be associated with other Google data. In addition, Google provides further data protection information at:

https://www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/partners

including information on how to prevent data usage.

Google also offers a browser add-on to deactivate Google Analytics, together with further information, at:

https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en

This add-on can be installed with common internet browsers and gives you further control over the data that Google collects when you visit our website. The add-on informs the JavaScript (ga.js) of Google Analytics that information regarding visits to our website should not be transmitted to Google Analytics. However, this does not prevent information from being transmitted to us or to other web analytics services. Whether and which additional web analytics services we use is, of course, also explained in this privacy policy.

etracker Web Analytics

We use etracker on our website. This is a web analytics service provided by etracker GmbH, Erste Brunnenstr. 1, 20459 Hamburg, Germany, hereinafter referred to as “etracker.”

If you do not agree with this processing, you have the option to prevent the storage of cookies through the settings of your internet browser. Further information on this can be found above under “Cookies.”

In addition, you have the option to stop the analysis of your usage behavior by means of an opt-out. By confirming the following link:

a cookie will be stored on your device via your internet browser that prevents further analysis. Please note, however, that you must click the above link again if you delete the cookies stored on your device.

The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the analysis, optimization, and economic operation of our website.

This information may include, for example, the number of subpages viewed, advertisements and products viewed, the search function used, information about your device (device type, operating system, version), or your location, for example in order to advertise products or services only available regionally. For this purpose, Criteo uses a technical ID that records the products viewed and your search behavior. Advertising partners can use cookies stored on your device via your internet browser to recognize whether an advertisement from the Criteo advertising network should be displayed when you access a website.

This makes it possible to calculate the probability of texts being copied based on the number of page views and the specific content of our website. The collection of this data is carried out anonymously. In order to record access figures and possible returning visits, either a session cookie is stored on your device via your internet browser or a signature generated from various information from your internet browser (e.g. user agent, screen resolution, etc.) is used. Your IP address, however, is processed only in anonymized form. As an individual user, you are never identifiable.

If you do not agree with this processing, you have the option to prevent the storage of cookies through the settings of your internet browser. Further information can be found above under “Cookies.” In addition, you have the option to disable SZM measurement by means of an opt-out. By confirming the following link:

a cookie will be stored on your device via your internet browser that prevents further analysis. Please note, however, that you must click the above link again if you delete the cookies stored on your device.

Our legitimate interest lies in improving the quality of our website. According to YouTube, the “Enhanced Privacy Mode” means that the data described below is only transmitted to the YouTube server if you actually start a video.

Without this “Enhanced Privacy,” a connection to YouTube’s server in the USA is established as soon as you access one of our web pages containing an embedded YouTube video.

This connection is necessary in order to display the respective video on our website via your internet browser. In the process, YouTube will at least collect and process your IP address, the date and time, and the website visited. In addition, a connection to Google’s “DoubleClick” advertising network is established.

If you are simultaneously logged into YouTube, YouTube assigns the connection information to your YouTube account. If you wish to prevent this, you must either log out of YouTube before visiting our website or make the appropriate settings in your YouTube user account.

For functionality and analysis of usage behavior, YouTube permanently stores cookies on your device via your internet browser. You can prevent or restrict the installation of cookies through the appropriate settings in your internet browser. You can also delete cookies that have already been stored at any time.
